(ΕΝ) Pafos FC appoints Albert Celades as Head Coach
Pafos FC is proud to announce the appointment of Albert Celades López as the club’s new Head Coach. Albert has signed a contract until 2027, with an option to extend.
Albert Celades joins Pafos FC with an exceptional football pedigree, shaped at the very highest level of the game — both as a trophy-winning elite player and as an experienced international coach.
A graduate of the legendary FC Barcelona La Masia academy, Celades is one of a very select group of players to have represented both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, playing an important role at each club. Over a distinguished 15-year professional career, primarily as a defensive midfielder, he won multiple La Liga and Copa del Rey titles with Barcelona, before adding further silverware with Real Madrid, including La Liga championships and the UEFA Champions League.
His club career also included spells with RC Celta de Vigo, Girondins de Bordeaux, Real Zaragoza, and New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer.
In total, he made over 280 senior appearances and won ten major trophies, consistently performing in demanding, elite environments.
At international level, Celades represented Spain across all youth categories and the senior national team, earning caps and appearing at the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
Following his playing career, Celades moved into coaching and built a strong reputation within the Spanish national team structure. He worked extensively with Spain’s youth national teams, including serving as Head Coach of the Spain Under-21 team, achieving notable success in European competition and contributing to the development of future internationals.
He also served as an assistant coach with the senior Spanish national team and within Real Madrid’s coaching staff, before becoming Head Coach of Valencia CF in La Liga, where he demonstrated tactical acumen and leadership at the highest domestic level.
Pafos FC firmly believes that Albert Celades’s winning mentality, international experience, and clear football vision make him the ideal leader for the next phase of the club’s development.
Welcome to Pafos FC, Albert.
We look forward to an exciting journey together.
